Who we are

Kairos Duo takes its name from the ancient Greek word kairos (καιρός), meaning the right or opportune moment — a moment that cannot be planned or repeated, only recognised and embraced.

For us, that idea lies at the heart of making music together. It can be found in the shared breath before a phrase begins, in the way a melody naturally unfolds, or in the silence that lingers after the final note. These are the moments that give a performance its life.

As a violin and piano duo, we see timing as more than precision. It is a way of shaping expression, creating space, and responding to one another in real time. Whether performing well-known works or discovering new repertoire, we aim to approach every piece with curiosity, honesty, and a deep respect for its unique voice.

Above all, we believe that live music is about creating something that exists only in that moment — a shared experience between performers and audience that can never happen in quite the same way again.
